How did it all begin?

Established in the year 1937, Haldiram’s was a small sweet and namkeen shop in the beautiful town – Bikaner in the Rajasthan state of India.

The proud founder of Haldiram’s, Shivkisan Agarwal always wanted to go big and build an empire which would sell delicious sweets and namkeens globally and the Indian traditional food could reach every nook and corner of the world.

His aim was to bring to every person who loves Indian sweets and namkeen much closer to their roots and wanted Haldiram’s to be present in every occasion, festival or celebration!

In the year 1970, Haldiram shifted his base to Nagpur, Maharashtra and since then this has been the headquarters of this loved brand. This was a one of a kind manufacturing factory and the first to manufacture sweets and namkeens. Very soon, Haldiram’s became a household name and was present in every occasion or festival in India.

Later, Haldiram’s started many chains of restaurants and retail shops selling sweets, namkeens and other snacks under its roof.

They played a lot with their packaging and made it much more presentable and durable. In the year 1997, Haldiram’s entered a new journey and started manufacturing milk and items of milk products. They started manufacturing Khowa, Ghee & Butter Milk and extruded foods such as vermicelli and 3-D Snacks.

› Retail Stores and Restaurants

Haldiram’s has its own retail chain stores and a range of restaurants in Nagpur, Kolkata, Patna, Lucknow, Noida and Delhi.

In contemporary times, Haldiram’s products are exported to several countries worldwide, including Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Thailand and others.

Most of its retail stores and restaurants are present in Nothern India. In August 2014, the railway budget presented by Sadanand Gowda stated that trains should serve better food; since then Haldiram’s has been catering to Paschim Express which runs between Amritsar and Mumbai.

Haldiram’s has over 100 products which range from sweets, namkeens, snacks, ready to eat packaged food, dairy products and frozen foods. They also have a segment which produces fruit-flavored beverages.

Haldiram’s got into the ready to eat segment in the year 2010. They also started producing foods made only from Potato by exporting machinery from The United States of America in the 1990s.

Today, Haldiram’s products can be found at any retail stores, bakeries, confectionaries and sweet marts. They are readily available, very well packaged and are extremely affordable. This is a very popular in The United States of America, not just for its potato products but also for other sweets and namkeens; especially with the South Asian Americans.

Globally, the products of Haldiram’s are available in over 50 countries and occupy a good shelf space in supermarkets like Tesco, Somerfield, Spinneys and Carrefour.


#FunFact – Among its 30 varieties of namkeen, perhaps the most popular is its “Aloo Bhujia,” spicy potato noodles made using gram flour and spices originating the home of Haldiram’s – Bikaner.

‘Travhos Experience’ is the latest addition to this brand. This is a full-fledged travel firm started by them this year.

Siddharth Sharma, General Manager of Travhos stated “Our model is to make all kind of travel experiences accessible to the public”

He also added “The company will offer services in heritage, spiritual, adventure, business and other travel packages for India and abroad.”

This company headquarter is in Delhi and will start it services this year and plans to market its travel products in its sweet outlets and restaurants. Later on, the company plans to sell its travel services from its outlets and restaurants.

This is a marketing initiative taken up by the brand and have roped in celebrity chef Kunal Kapur who makes delicious food by using snacks and ready to eat food manufactured by Haldiram’s.

It’s gained popularity on YouTube because of its unique concept and making different recipes using Haldiram’s products which are very easily available in every household.

Mopleez is the sister brand of Haldiram’s. This brand specifically caters to people not living in India but craving for delicious Indian food. Mo’pleez has been a leading manufacturer and exporter of Indian sweets and savories globally. It is a prominent exporter in the United Kingdom, United States of America, Germany and the Gulf Region. Mo’pleez is now available in over 15 countries across the globe.

The promotion of this brand was done by creating videos of family members who live abroad and don’t get the time to cook healthy Indian meals. Mo’pleez is a one stop solution for your food when you live outside India and want to eat ‘desi’ khaana.

Haldiram’s branding has been seen in many movies lately.It was seen in the movie Prem Ratan Dhan Payo starring Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor in the year 2015.

This year too, movies like Noor starring Sonakshi Sinha, Dhadhak starring Jhanvi Kapoor and Ishaan Kapoor, October starring Varun Dhawan saw products of Haldiram’s displayed in the movie.



Haldiram’s is a household name when it comes to snacking and sweets. A brand that has been around for so many decades has only improvised and increased its options for people who love to explore various Indian food items.

Their branding activities are very traditional, yet they have made a mark globally and are always the first name in one’s mind when we talk of ready to eat food or sweets.

This brand is traditional yet modern as it has kept up with the ever-changing Indian taste buds and also by entering in the restaurant market of the country.
